Interactive Writing — Duolingo English Test (2026 Guide + Practice)Interactive Writing — Duolingo English Test (2026 လမ်းညွှန် + လေ့ကျင့်ခန်းများ)
Interactive Writing is the DET’s two-stage writing task: in Stage A (5 minutes) you respond to a written prompt, then in Stage B (3 minutes) you answer a second, related follow-up prompt — 8 minutes total, with a 30-second preview of the first prompt. After submitting Stage A you cannot edit it, but you can read it while writing Stage B. The follow-up builds on your Stage A response, so coherence between the two stages is what the AI assesses most. This lesson gives you the two-stage strategy plus 2 full prompt pairs with model answers.
How It Works — Step by Stepဘယ်လိုဖြေရမလဲ — အဆင့်ဆင့်
- 30-second preview. You see the first prompt before the clock starts. Use these seconds to choose your position and 2 main points — don’t just stare.စက္ကန့် ၃၀ ကြိုဖတ်ချိန်။ Timer မစခင် ပထမမေးခွန်းကို မြင်ရပါတယ်။ ဒီစက္ကန့်တွေမှာ ကိုယ့်ရပ်တည်ချက်နဲ့ အဓိကအချက် ၂ ခု ရွေးထားပါ — ငေးကြည့်မနေပါနဲ့။
- Stage A — 5 minutes. Write your full response to the first prompt. When you submit, it locks — you cannot change a single word afterwards.အဆင့် A — ၅ မိနစ်။ ပထမမေးခွန်းကို အဖြေအပြည့် ရေးပါ။ Submit လုပ်ပြီးရင် သော့ခတ်သွားပါမယ် — စကားလုံးတစ်လုံးမှ ပြန်ပြင်လို့ မရတော့ပါ။
- Stage B — 3 minutes. A second, related follow-up prompt appears. You can read your Stage A answer while writing — use it to stay consistent and build on it.အဆင့် B — ၃ မိနစ်။ ဆက်စပ်တဲ့ ဒုတိယမေးခွန်း ပေါ်လာပါတယ်။ ရေးနေတုန်း အဆင့် A အဖြေကို ပြန်ဖတ်လို့ ရပါတယ် — ညီညွတ်မှုရှိပြီး အဲဒီပေါ်မှာ ဆက်တည်ဆောက်ဖို့ သုံးပါ။
- Submit Stage B. The set is complete — 1 set per test, 8 minutes total.အဆင့် B ကို submit လုပ်ပါ။ အတွဲပြီးပါပြီ — စာမေးပွဲတစ်ခါမှာ ၁ တွဲ၊ စုစုပေါင်း ၈ မိနစ်။

How It’s Scored (What the AI Reads For)အမှတ်ဘယ်လိုပေးလဲ (AI က ဘာတွေဖတ်လဲ)
Interactive Writing is auto-scored by AI and feeds your Writing subscore. Duolingo does not publish its full scoring rubric, but its scoring guide confirms strong responses show:
Interactive Writing ကို AI က အလိုအလျောက် အမှတ်ပေးပြီး Writing အမှတ်မှာ ထည့်သွင်းပါတယ်။ Duolingo က အမှတ်ပေးစံနှုန်း အသေးစိတ်ကို ထုတ်ပြန်မထားပေမယ့် သူတို့ရဲ့ scoring guide အရ အမှတ်ကောင်းရတဲ့ အဖြေတွေက ဒါတွေပြသပါတယ်:
- Coherence between stages — the follow-up prompt builds on your Stage A response. Stage B should echo Stage A details, never contradict them.အဆင့် ၂ ခုကြား ဆက်စပ်ညီညွတ်မှု — နောက်မေးခွန်းက သင့်ရဲ့ အဆင့် A အဖြေပေါ်မှာ တည်ဆောက်ထားတာ။ အဆင့် B က အဆင့် A အသေးစိတ်တွေကို ပြန်ကိုးကားရမယ်၊ ဘယ်တော့မှ ဆန့်ကျင်ဘက်မဖြစ်ရဘူး။
- Task response — each stage actually answers its own prompt. Answering Stage A twice is the classic failure.မေးခွန်းကို တိုက်ရိုက်ဖြေဆိုမှု — အဆင့်တိုင်းက သူ့မေးခွန်းကို တကယ်ဖြေရပါမယ်။ အဆင့် A ကို နှစ်ခါဖြေမိတာက အဖြစ်များဆုံးအမှားပါ။
- Development of ideas — reasons, examples, and explanations, not just opinions stated and abandoned.အတွေးအခေါ် ဖွံ့ဖြိုးမှု — အကြောင်းပြချက်၊ ဥပမာ၊ ရှင်းလင်းချက်တွေ၊ အမြင်ပြောပြီးထားခဲ့တာမျိုး မဟုတ်ဘဲ။
- Grammatical control & vocabulary range — correct, varied sentences. Under 8-minute pressure, simple and correct beats complex and broken.သဒ္ဒါထိန်းချုပ်မှုနဲ့ စကားလုံးစုံလင်မှု — မှန်ကန်စုံလင်တဲ့ ဝါကျတွေ။ ၈ မိနစ်ဖိအားအောက်မှာ ရိုးရှင်းမှန်ကန်တာက ရှုပ်ထွေးမှားယွင်းတာထက် သာတယ်။
Honest note: no prep site (including this one) knows the exact algorithm weights. Anyone promising a “guaranteed scoring formula” is guessing. What works is genuinely better connected writing — which is what these drills build.

- Use the 30-second preview properly. Read the first prompt, pick your position (agree/disagree, or your main idea), and fix 2 main points in your head before typing starts.စက္ကန့် ၃၀ ကြိုဖတ်ချိန်ကို သေချာသုံးပါ။ ပထမမေးခွန်းဖတ်ပြီး ကိုယ့်ရပ်တည်ချက် (သဘောတူ/မတူ၊ ဒါမှမဟုတ် အဓိကအတွေး) ရွေးကာ စာမစခင် အဓိကအချက် ၂ ခုကို ခေါင်းထဲမှာ အတည်ပြုထားပါ။
- Stage A: build a structure you can extend. Intro → 2 points with examples → closing line. End with a hook (a detail, a question, a plan) that Stage B can grab onto.
- Stage B must echo Stage A specifics. Name the same person, repeat the same example, reuse a key phrase (“the free learning I described”). This visible link is exactly what coherence scoring looks for.
- Never contradict Stage A — and never copy it. Contradiction breaks coherence; word-for-word repetition adds nothing. Extend: same ideas, new details.အဆင့် A နဲ့ ဘယ်တော့မှ မဆန့်ကျင်ပါနဲ့ — ကူးချလည်း မကူးချပါနဲ့။ ဆန့်ကျင်တာက ဆက်စပ်မှုပျက်စေတယ်၊ စကားလုံးအတိုင်း ကူးချတာက ဘာမှမထည့်ပေးဘူး။ ချဲ့ထွင်ပါ: အတွေးတူ၊ အသေးစိတ်အသစ်။
- Use linking phrases between stages. “As I mentioned…”, “Building on that point…”, “For example…”, “Following up on…”. They signal the connection explicitly.အဆင့် ၂ ခုကြား ဆက်စပ်စကားလုံးတွေ သုံးပါ။ “As I mentioned…”၊ “Building on that point…”၊ “For example…”၊ “Following up on…”။ ဒါတွေက ဆက်စပ်မှုကို ရှင်းရှင်းလင်းလင်း ပြသပေးတယ်။
- Save 20 seconds per stage to re-read. Fix 2–3 small errors (articles, verb endings, spelling). A clean finish outscores a brilliant draft full of slips.အဆင့်တိုင်းမှာ ပြန်ဖတ်ဖို့ စက္ကန့် ၂၀ ချန်ထားပါ။ အမှားသေးသေး ၂–၃ ခု (articles, verb endings, spelling) ပြင်ပါ။ သန့်ရှင်းတဲ့အဆုံးသတ်က အမှားတွေပြည့်နေတဲ့ မူကြမ်းထက် အမှတ်ပိုရတယ်။

✏️ Pair 1 — Opinion → Future Scenario (Technology)✏️ အတွဲ ၁ — အမြင် → အနာဂတ်မြင်ကွင်း (နည်းပညာ)
Prompt: Some people believe technology has made our lives better, while others believe it has made life more stressful. What is your opinion? Give reasons and examples to support your answer.
Model Stage A answerModel အဆင့် A အဖြေ
“I believe technology has made our lives better overall, although it has added new stress. On the positive side, it connects people: I video-call my cousins abroad every week, something that was impossible twenty years ago. It also makes learning easier — I study English online for free every single day. The stress is real, though: constant messages make it hard to disconnect in the evening. Still, the benefits outweigh the problems, because we can learn to manage the stress, but we cannot replace the connections technology gives us.”
Teaching notes: clear position → two developed points (connection + learning, each with a concrete example) → acknowledges the other side → closing judgment. The final sentence is a hook Stage B can build on (“manage the stress”).
Follow-up prompt: Imagine it is ten years in the future. Describe a typical day in your life and explain how technology is part of it, connecting to the opinion you gave in Stage A.
“Ten years from now, my typical day will show exactly why I hold that opinion. I will wake up in Yangon and join an online meeting with colleagues in three different countries — the connection I praised in Stage A, now completely normal. In the afternoon, I will take an online course, continuing the free learning I described earlier. But I will also protect one tech-free hour every evening, because the stress I mentioned is real and needs managing. Technology will be woven into my whole day, and managing it wisely — not rejecting it — will be the skill that matters most.”
Teaching notes — coherence in action: Stage B echoes three Stage A specifics (“the connection I praised”, “the free learning I described”, “the stress I mentioned”) without copying a single sentence. It extends (a concrete future day) instead of repeating, and it never contradicts the Stage A position. This is exactly what the AI coherence check rewards.
သင်ကြားချက် — ဆက်စပ်ညီညွတ်မှု လက်တွေ့: အဆင့် B က အဆင့် A ရဲ့ တိကျတဲ့အချက် ၃ ခု (“the connection I praised”၊ “the free learning I described”၊ “the stress I mentioned”) ကို ဝါကျတစ်ကြောင်းမှ မကူးချဘဲ ပြန်ကိုးကားတယ်။ ထပ်ပြောတာမဟုတ်ဘဲ ချဲ့ထွင်တယ် (ခိုင်လုံတဲ့ အနာဂတ်တစ်နေ့)၊ အဆင့် A ရပ်တည်ချက်နဲ့လည်း ဘယ်တော့မှ မဆန့်ကျင်ဘူး။ ဒါက AI ဆက်စပ်မှု အကဲဖြတ်စနစ် အမှတ်ပေးတဲ့အရာအတိအကျပါ။
✏️ Pair 2 — Describe → Narrative (An Influential Person)✏️ အတွဲ ၂ — ဖော်ပြချက် → ဇာတ်ကြောင်း (လွှမ်းမိုးမှုရှိတဲ့သူ)
Prompt: Describe a person who has had a strong influence on your life. Who is this person, and what makes them special?
မေးခွန်း: သင့်ဘဝမှာ လွှမ်းမိုးမှုအားကောင်းခဲ့တဲ့သူ တစ်ယောက်ကို ဖော်ပြပါ။ ဒီသူက ဘယ်သူလဲ၊ သူ့ကို ထူးခြားစေတာက ဘာလဲ?

“The person who has influenced me most is my English teacher, Daw Aye. She is patient but strict: she corrects every mistake yet never makes students feel embarrassed. What makes her special is that she treats English as a tool for life, not just a subject — she brings newspaper articles to class and makes us debate real issues. Because of her, I stopped fearing mistakes and started enjoying the challenge of expressing complex ideas.”
Teaching notes: names a specific person → two concrete qualities with detail (corrects mistakes kindly; uses real-world materials) → the effect on the writer. The closing line (“stopped fearing mistakes”) is a perfect hook for a narrative follow-up.
Follow-up prompt: Tell a short story about a time when this person taught you something important. What happened, and what did you learn?
နောက်မေးခွန်း: ဒီသူက သင့်ကို အရေးကြီးတဲ့အရာ သင်ပေးခဲ့တဲ့အချိန်အကြောင်း ဇာတ်လမ်းတိုတစ်ပုဒ် ပြောပြပါ။ ဘာဖြစ်ခဲ့လဲ၊ သင် ဘာသင်ယူခဲ့ရလဲ?

“A moment that shows her influence happened last year during our school debate competition. I was terrified to speak, and my hands were shaking backstage. Daw Aye simply said, ‘Mistakes are proof you are trying — go and collect some.’ I walked on stage, stumbled through my first sentence, then found my rhythm and finished strongly. We didn’t win, but I learned what she had been teaching all along: courage matters more than perfection. That lesson now shapes how I approach every challenge.”
Teaching notes — coherence in action: Stage B keeps the same person (Daw Aye) and illustrates the Stage A claim (“stopped fearing mistakes”) with one concrete story — what happened → what was learned. No contradiction, no repetition: the story is entirely new information that proves the Stage A point.

10. Stage A ends: “…which is why I want to become a teacher.” Stage B asks for a future plan. Which is better?အဆင့် A အဆုံး: “…which is why I want to become a teacher.” အဆင့် B က အနာဂတ်အစီအစဉ်ကို မေးတယ်။ ဘယ်ဟာပိုကောင်းလဲ?
💡 Hint💡 အကြံပြုချက်
Stage B must grow from the SAME goal stated in Stage A — switching goals breaks coherence.
အဆင့် B က အဆင့် A မှာ ပြောခဲ့တဲ့ တူညီတဲ့ရည်မှန်းချက်ကနေပဲ ကြီးထွားရမယ် — ရည်မှန်းချက်ပြောင်းတာက ဆက်စပ်မှုပျက်စေတယ်။

The 30-second preview is a skill — train it. For each prompt below, take 30 seconds to fix your position + 2 main points (say them aloud or jot keywords). No writing yet — this drill trains planning, not prose.

Can I edit my Stage A answer after submitting it?အဆင့် A အဖြေကို submit လုပ်ပြီးရင် ပြန်ပြင်လို့ရလား?
No. Once you submit Stage A, it locks — not a single word can be changed. But you can read it while writing Stage B, so use it as your reference to stay consistent.
မရပါ။ အဆင့် A ကို submit လုပ်ပြီးရင် သော့ခတ်သွားပါတယ် — စကားလုံးတစ်လုံးမှ ပြင်လို့ မရပါ။ ဒါပေမယ့် အဆင့် B ရေးနေတုန်း ပြန်ဖတ်လို့ ရပါတယ်၊ ဒါကြောင့် ညီညွတ်မှုရှိဖို့ အကိုးအကားအဖြစ် သုံးပါ။
What kind of follow-up will Stage B ask?အဆင့် B က ဘယ်လို နောက်မေးခွန်းမျိုး မေးမလဲ?
A second, related prompt that builds on your Stage A response — for example, an example of your point, a reason behind it, a story that illustrates it, or a future scenario connected to it.

Is Interactive Writing auto-scored?Interactive Writing က အလိုအလျောက် အမှတ်ပေးတာလား?
Yes — it is auto-scored by AI and feeds your Writing subscore. Because the follow-up builds on your Stage A response, coherence between the two stages is what the system assesses most.
ဟုတ်ပါတယ် — AI က အလိုအလျောက် အမှတ်ပေးပြီး Writing အမှတ်မှာ ထည့်သွင်းပါတယ်။ နောက်မေးခွန်းက သင့်အဆင့် A အဖြေပေါ်မှာ တည်ဆောက်ထားတာမို့ အဆင့် ၂ ခုကြား ဆက်စပ်ညီညွတ်မှုကို စနစ်က အကဲဖြတ်ဆုံးပါ။
How should I use the 30-second preview?စက္ကန့် ၃၀ ကြိုဖတ်ချိန်ကို ဘယ်လိုသုံးရမလဲ?
Read the first prompt, choose your position (agree/disagree, or your main idea), and fix 2 main points with examples in your head. Starting to type with a plan saves far more time than it costs.
What if I’m running out of time in Stage B?အဆင့် B မှာ အချိန်ကုန်တော့မယ်ဆို ဘာလုပ်ရမလဲ?
Finish cleanly: a complete short Stage B beats a brilliant unfinished one. Write one clear final sentence that ties back to Stage A (“That is why…”, “This shows…”) rather than trailing off mid-thought.
၊ “This shows…”)။
