What Is a Paragraph?
စာပိုဒ် ဆိုတာ ဘာလဲ?
A paragraph is a group of related sentences that talk about one main idea. စာပိုဒ်ဆိုသည်မှာ အဓိကအကြောင်းအရာ တစ်ခုကို ပြောဆိုသော ဆက်စပ်နေသည့် စာကြောင်းများ အုပ်စုဖြစ်ပါသည်။
It is a basic building block of any writing, especially in essays. ၎င်းသည် စာရေးခြင်း၏ အခြေခံအုတ်မြစ်ဖြစ်ပြီး၊ အထူးသဖြင့် စာစီစာကုံးများတွင် အရေးပါပါသည်။
Each paragraph should focus on only one topic and help the reader understand the writer's message clearly. စာပိုဒ်တိုင်းသည် အကြောင်းအရာ တစ်ခုတည်းကိုသာ အာရုံစိုက်သင့်ပြီး စာဖတ်သူအား စာရေးသူ၏ သတင်းစကားကို ရှင်းလင်းစွာ နားလည်စေသင့်ပါသည်။
A good paragraph is usually made up of three basic parts: ကောင်းမွန်သော စာပိုဒ်တစ်ခုတွင် အခြေခံအပိုင်း သုံးပိုင်း ပါဝင်လေ့ရှိပါသည်။

Topic Sentence
၁။ အကြောင်းအရာဖော်ပြသည့် စာကြောင်း
The topic sentence is usually the first sentence in a paragraph. အကြောင်းအရာဖော်ပြသည့် စာကြောင်းသည် စာပိုဒ်တစ်ခု၏ ပထမဆုံးစာကြောင်း ဖြစ်လေ့ရှိပါသည်။
It tells the main idea of the paragraph. It is like the title of a paragraph in sentence form. ၎င်းသည် စာပိုဒ်၏ အဓိကအကြောင်းအရာကို ဖော်ပြပါသည်။ စာကြောင်းပုံစံဖြင့် စာပိုဒ်၏ ခေါင်းစဉ်ကဲ့သို့ ဖြစ်ပါသည်။
Example: ဥပမာ:
Many people enjoy learning English for different reasons. လူအများသည် အကြောင်းပြချက် အမျိုးမျိုးဖြင့် အင်္ဂလိပ်ဘာသာ သင်ယူရန် နှစ်သက်ကြပါသည်။

Supporting Details

These are the sentences that explain or give examples of the main idea. ၎င်းတို့သည် အဓိကအကြောင်းအရာကို ရှင်းပြသည့် သို့မဟုတ် ဥပမာပေးသည့် စာကြောင်းများ ဖြစ်ပါသည်။
They help the reader understand more about the topic. Good supporting sentences may include facts, reasons, or examples. ၎င်းတို့သည် စာဖတ်သူအား အကြောင်းအရာအကြောင်း ပိုမိုနားလည်စေရန် ကူညီပါသည်။ ကောင်းမွန်သော အထောက်အပံ့ပြု စာကြောင်းများတွင် အချက်အလက်များ၊ အကြောင်းပြချက်များ သို့မဟုတ် ဥပမာများ ပါဝင်နိုင်ပါသည်။

Closing Sentence
၃။ အဆုံးသတ်စာကြောင်း
The closing sentence brings the paragraph to an end. အဆုံးသတ်စာကြောင်းသည် စာပိုဒ်ကို အဆုံးသတ်စေပါသည်။
It may summarize the main idea or give a final thought. ၎င်းသည် အဓိကအကြောင်းအရာကို အကျဉ်းချုပ်နိုင်သည် သို့မဟုတ် နောက်ဆုံးအတွေးတစ်ခု ပေးနိုင်သည်။
It should not add a completely new idea. လုံးဝ အသစ်ဖြစ်သော အကြောင်းအရာတစ်ခုကို ထပ်မံဖြည့်စွက်မထားသင့်ပါ။

Coherence and Cohesion in a Paragraph

A paragraph must be both coherent and cohesive. စာပိုဒ်တစ်ခုသည် ဆီလျော်မှုနှင့် အချိတ်အဆက်မိခြင်း နှစ်မျိုးလုံး ရှိရပါမည်။
Coherence means the ideas are organized clearly and make sense together. ဆီလျော်မှု ဆိုသည်မှာ အကြောင်းအရာများကို ရှင်းလင်းစွာ စီစဉ်ထားပြီး အတူတကွ အဓိပ္ပါယ်ရှိခြင်းကို ဆိုလိုပါသည်။

Cohesion means the sentences are connected using linking words or phrases. အချိတ်အဆက်မိခြင်း ဆိုသည်မှာ စာကြောင်းများကို ချိတ်ဆက်သော စကားလုံးများ သို့မဟုတ် စကားစုများကို အသုံးပြု၍ ချိတ်ဆက်ခြင်းကို ဆိုလိုပါသည်။
